The Linder Auditorium is one of Johannesburg’s premier concert venues. Many symphony concerts and classical performances take place at the Linder Auditorium.
The Linder Auditorium is located in Parktown on the campus of the Wits University Department of Education. It is also on the same site as the new Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.
The photo above shows Stefan Louw, one of South Africa’s top tenor’s, together with Goitsemang Leboybye taking a bow, with Richard Cock conducting the National Festival Orchestra. The concert took place at the Linder Auditorium in August 2016.
Unfortunately the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra no longer has 2 full subscription seasons.
To get from the Linder Auditorium to Abbotsford House takes only 13 minutes. You drive out of the grounds into ST Andrews Road and turn left. At Houghton Drive (Joe Slovo) you take the slip road to the left and then continue onto the M1 North.
You take the Glenhove offramp. At the top you turn right and go past the Shell Garage on your right hand side. At the next traffic light go left into Beaumont /Athol Oaklands Road. Then second right into First Street Abbotsford and Abbotsford House is on the right hand side in the first block.
