Abbotsford is a small 4 street suburb located adjacent to Oaklands which adjoins Houghton. Abbotsford is centrally located between Houghton, Oaklands, Norwood, Waverley, Melrose North and Birdhaven. On the other side of Birdhaven you come to Melrose and then Rosebank. At most times of the day it is a 6 minute drive to get from Abbotsford to Rosebank.
Just a block away from Abbotsford is James & Ethel Grey Park home to SASCOC. Across the park to the north is Melrose Arch. If you don’t cross the highway then you go along Scott Street Waverley where there are offices for VOX Telecom, The Centre for Advanced Medicine and SASFIN. To the west you come to Birdhaven and the Planet Fitness gym and the Wanderers Club.
We are very close to the M1 and you can cross the highway to get to Rosebank using Glenhove Road or Melrose Street which goes through the Bird Sanctuary. There is an Acrobranch in the Bird Sanctuary.
As you drive up Glenhove Road you go past the Glenhove Conference Centre and then further up is Quick Books. We are ideally located for anyone coming to courses or conferences at either of these venues. If you turn left from Glenhove Road into FIfth Street Houghton, Killarney Country Club is on your left hand side.
From Abbotsford House it is a short walk to the Oaklands Shops on the corner of Pretoria Street and Beaumont Street. As you walk along Beaumont the road curves past the Caltex service station into 17th Avenue Houghton which is an onramp to the M1 South. However on the corner of 17th Avenue and Central Street in Houghton you have the Nelson Mandela Foundation which is in walking distance of Abbotsford House.
Further along Central Street in Houghton you have the SAS Training Centre, Brand SOuth Africa offices and the CDE Centre for Diabetes. If you turn up 11th Ave towards Norwood you see Houghton Golf Club/Virgin Active.
